drive community change
We uncover real and valuable insights about communities that you're trying to influence, and we turn them into strategies and frameworks. We enable the change in attitudes and behaviours that you're aiming for.
Changing the attitudes or behaviours of a community isn't easy. Often you're up against forces stemming from cultural beliefs, socioeconomic contexts and environmental realities. People are bombarded with messages telling them to act differently. Whether you're encouraging people to give up smoking or to use your website rather than your call centre, you need your message to reach them if you're to achieve your goal.
If you use the wrong tactics or messages, you can embed the behaviour even more and create huge resistance to your position.
The key to creating widespread change within a community lies in understanding why people think or behave the way they do. You have to uncover people's attitudes and motivations, and place them in the context of those people's lives.
We uncover the beliefs, attitudes and physical realities that lead to current behaviours. We identify the buttons that you need to push to make a change occur, and determine the best way to reach those buttons.
We've done this for projects such as improving oral health and driving people to use the online channel.
We use a range of techniques to generate our insights, including watching, talking, collecting diaries, spending a day in the life of others, and establishing community panels and groups. We use participatory design as much as possible, as we recognise that the people themselves are the best individuals to design the strategy for change.
Our involvement gives you the best chance of success. It takes the guess-work out of your plan, and ensures that your investment creates the biggest possible positive influence.
